The Story of L'Orto
Welcome to L'Orto Farm to Table, created by me, Josie Cruz.
L'Orto is the product of a lifetime of commitment to eating and cooking sustainably. I was born and raised in the High Rocky Mountains, and have lived in New York, Florida, and New Mexico, working my way through every aspect of the hospitality industry, and eating my way through every culinary genre I could find in the process.
I grew up learning and volunteering at local farms. But it was during the growing season of 2020 that I truly spent with my hands in the dirt, under employment with a local biodynamic farmer, immersing myself in the land I call home.
L'Orto, the Italian word for the beloved vegetable garden, is a catering company growing from those core values of environmentalism and clean food production.
Through L'Orto, I seek to extend my passion for food with my passion for sustainability to my community, and I believe that investing in local resources is the best way to uphold that commitment.
As I have learned to source locally over the years, I have prepared to share the bounty with you!

Spirits
Not only does L'Orto work with local farmers, but also with local spirit makers. Above is Brant from Aquila Cellars, working on the vineyards. The local spirits business is booming in Colorado, and it couldn't be a better pairing for the farm to table movement!
